Another Story Sale to Circlet Press!

I’m over the moon to report that I’ve sold another story to this famous SFF erotica press!

This one is for their upcoming “Golden Age Erotica” collection - stories that pay homage to the classic styles of the Weird-Tales-type pulps of the early 20th century.

My story is “Burning Skies,” a lesbian occult adventure story that pays homage to H.P. Lovecraft’s “Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath”/Silver Key cycle, and E. Hoffmann Price’s stories of Pierre D’Artois, Occult Detective, and I think there’s a little bit of stylistic influence from Clark Ashton Smith in there too (and also from the post-Bauhaus band Tones On Tail).

This story can’t be posted anywhere before publication, but here’s a teaser:

“After what I just saw you do with that ghoul, your honor is clearly unassailable by many things that would destroy that of a lesser woman.”

“Ah, but honor is not what others say of me,” I said. “Honor is keeping mine own integrity, and that includes all my body parts in the same general order in which they always have been. Ghouls may borrow, but they may not keep.”

She watched me with shining eyes as I wiped myself and rearranged my clothes into decency, noting the places I’d have to repair rips and scrub stains, and probably eventually discard them altogether. Ghoul bites can be nasty, but I hadn’t been bitten badly enough to merit concern. Spend enough time in the shambles of North Boston and you learn what the safe limits are pretty quick - best to learn from other people’s mistakes instead of your own.

“I hope you don’t mind if my questioning is indelicate,” she said. “But did you … enjoy that?”

“I didn’t hate it,” I said, shrugging. True enough. Physical pleasure is pleasure, and I don’t feel repulsion. I do feel attraction though, and I certainly felt it towards the beautiful and brilliant Stella, and I hoped that performance of mine hadn’t ruined whatever slight chance I might have.

She ran her gloved finger over her perfect lips pensively.

New Essay Publication soon!

Pleased to report that I successfully caught this Call for Submissions from the Baker Street Babes. The Baker Street Babes are compiling their Femme Friday series into a massive book that's going to be one of the definitive works on women in the Sherlock Holmes canon and pastiches!

Final edits have been sent back recently. My essay is about Mrs. Ferguson from "Sussex Vampire," one of very few Latinas in the canon.

*dusts this blog off and apologizes for the neglect.*

It was well over a year ago I made this entry about submitting a story to Circlet Press for their upcoming anthology Journey to the Centre of Desire: Erotic Retellings of Jules Verne.

I admit, I'd come close to giving up. But patience pays off! I heard back at last, and they want it!

Details forthcoming about release dates and all that, as soon as I have them. Patience, patience. You can't push the river.

I've just made a submission!

Submitted 7900 words of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea smut to Circlet Press for their upcoming anthology based on the works of Jules Verne. (Yes, totally fanfic, but public domain means never having to say you're sorry.)

Titling the story "Poulp Friction," though - well, I probably ought to say I'm sorry for that.

Blue Moons are lucky - I hope it helps. I love Circlet Press so much and would be so honored to be accepted by them.

My Goodreads review: London Leather by Penny Armstrong

London LeatherLondon Leather by Penny Armstrong

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really, really enjoyed this. I know the author wanted to wash out the terrible taste of 50 Shades of Grey by writing something accurate and faithful to her own experience in the BDSM community, and I think she did an excellent job. This isn't really strictly an erotic novel, although the actual kink scenes are really hot and creative; it's more about relationships, and the strengths and weaknesses all the characters bring to the table. Not just sexual relationships either - one character is driven by concern about her relationship with her religious sister, for example. There is also a running storyline about the politics of kink in a country where legal issues related to it are common, and the difficulties of getting various strong, clashing personalities organized for a greater cause. I liked the frank and honest depictions of some of the ways play can go wrong, too. All her characters are flawed but in relatable ways, and I kept rooting for them to work through their communication issues and get their shit together. Bittersweet but hopeful, and also sexy.

First excerpt!

I've completed a draft that's going to become my solo debut. Currently now looking for a beta-reader and cover artist.

It's a bisexual shifter story, both m/m and m/f, with a menage/exhibitionism scene, and an Appalachian folkloric feel. It's about 7,000 words and I'm planning for it to be the first in a series. I have no idea if this will sell, but I'm about to find out.

And yes, it is called "Carrion, My Wayward Son." I'm not sorry.

Here is an excerpt:

Watch this space, and I'll let you know when the whole thing is available.

Greetings and Welcome

I'm a writer of erotica in the speculative-fiction/magical-realism/SF/paranormal realm. Brand-spanking-new to epublishing original fiction, but with many years of experience in writing smut, as all my fanfiction friends know.

You can find my first original publication, "Tempestuous" (historical fantasy, sex magick, F/F) in New Smut Project's anthology of character-driven erotica, Heart, Body, Soul.

Which just got a REVIEW on Goodreads! Some wonderful person liveblogged her reading of all 400+ pages of it.

Huge thanks to everyone who's bought this anthology and its sibling volume Between the Shores. They're selling really well! Please consider leaving a review or a rating, if you're so inclined,

Current WIP, nearly finished: a shifter story involving scavenger birds. Male protagonist, M/F and M/M, with group sex.

Next up on the plate: another shifter story, female protagonist with voyeurism and an orgy scene, inspired by the Appalachian legend of the Wampus cat. You can count on me to steal from draw on folklore a great deal. Old weird stories are the sexiest stories.
